Let's talk about: The Paradise

I just finished watching the first two episodes of The Paradise
I have been hearing about this show for a while and wanted to finally see what it was about.

In the first episode Denise Lovett (played by Joanna Vanderham) arrives in Newcastle to work in her uncle's drapery shop. He doesn't have the money to take her on at the moment so she goes across the street to a new department store called the Paradise.

She is a very good saleswoman and soon begins to draw the attention of everyone.

I am definitely going to continue watching this show.
The acting is great. So far the story line seems interesting.
There is a little bit of mystery humming about in the background throughout.
And I love looking at all the fabulous clothes.

Also, if any of you are Lark Rise to Candleford fans, like I am, you will see a few familiar faces.
In the second episode you will see  Olivia Hallinan (Laura in Lark Rise).

And there were two of my other Lark Rise favorites:

Matthew McNulty (Fisher Bloom on L.R)  and Ruby Bentall (Minnie on L.R.)

I will post more about this show as I watch it but as for now I would say that if you like BBC period drama television, you will most likely like this as well.

*Have you watched The Paradise yet?

I REALLY liked "The Paradise" a lot. I watched it when it aired on PBS and then bought the first season on DVD because I wanted it for my collection. The second season aired last fall and it was still good, but not as good as the first season. I didn't enjoy it as much but I still liked it. It didn't get renewed unfortunately but I really wish it had been--I think they could have made a good third season out of it.

I didn't know that it wasn't renewed. Darn.
I will have to finish watching this season and then see what I think of season 2.
I will probably post more about it over time.

Have not watched it. I don't think I have heard of it before so I may need to do that in the future. It looks good!
